Let’s retrace our steps.
In Game I, AJ Brimson started at fullback, with Xavier Coates and Phillip Sami on the wings because Kalyn Ponga was injured and Valentine Holmes suspended. Brenko Lee was initially named to make his debut at centre but failed a fitness test a couple of hours before kick-off, meaning utility and 18th man Kurt Capewell stepped in.
In Game II, Holmes returned at fullback after Brimson was ruled out with a foot injury, but otherwise the backline was untouched. Up front, Dunamis Lui started for Christian Welch, who’d copped a head knock in the opener and didn’t recover in time. Meanwhile, Coen Hess was axed completely, with Jaydn Su’A elevated from the bench to starting back rower, with Moeaki Fotuiaka getting a bench spot.
