Detectives in Far North Queensland are investigating the deaths of a young boy and a man at a town south of Cooktown.
The pair — aged four and 46 — were found dead when police attended an address at Rossville just before 10:00am.
Officers said the pair were known to each other.
A crime scene has been declared with specialist police and detectives on scene.
Cook Shire Mayor Peter Scott said the incident was tragic.
“We’re the biggest shire in Queensland and we’re only a small population base,” he said.
“We’re like a larger extended family up here and it’s a jolt when anything like this happens.
“That said, the occurrence is pretty rare.”
Investigations are still underway.
