Howdy, folks! I’m in the US and had been hoping to visit Australia shortly prior to all this covid breaking out, but my plans got delayed and the pandemic has caused further delay. I’ve been trying to learn all I can about Australia and the Gold Coast in the meanwhile. I’ve been listening to audiobooks and poking through the Lonely Planet travel guides. I’ve even watched a bit on Youtube where some guys from Brisbane went through and rated all of the public toilets in the city, and also [made a giant meat pie out of the best meat pies in Brisbane](https://youtu.be/bzkuFXuiv7k).
But for all that, I still don’t really have a feel for what Brisbane is like. Everything I’ve been reading focuses more on what things shouldn’t be missed, but there isn’t much focus on the actual culture or the feel of what it’s like to be in Brisbane.
I know I want to taste a snag and also visit a pub for a chicken parmesan because they’re supposed to be excellent there. I also want to try the meat pies and go snorkeling and see an actual bin chicken and also hopefully avoid getting swooped by the magpies.
I want to read the legends, visit the used book stores, and hear your ghost stories. I want to go hiking in the forests and see some of the national parks.
Also, since my fellow countrymen (and my government) have proven spectacularly inept at doing simple things like maintaining quarantine or keeping a piece of cloth affixed to their faces when in public, I doubt those travel restrictions will be lifted anytime soon… So feel free to suggest anything you like to me, and I’ll be happy to check it out.
Anything at all. If you’ve got some kinda suggestion about where to find the best socks in Brisbane or whatever, I want to hear about it. Anything that makes your home special to you.
Thank you so much!
