Three piles.
Everything that you used in the past 6 months.
Everything that you used in the 6 month to 1 year period.
Everything else.
This includes clothes, tools, sporting equipment, kitchen stuff, thing that you intend to repair, etc.
Sell, give away or dump everything in the third group.
Put everything in the second group into rented storage.
Move the rest.
Review and pare down the stuff in the storage locker over the next year. Some seasonal items will come out like skis or camping equipment.
