I’m not the up most leading expert in this subject, but if i was were you friend the best thing you could do is act like you did before they told him he had cancer.
Don’t bring it up unless he does. Tell him you guys can talk anytime, and you’re very interested in updates whenever *he* wants to give them or talk about them. Ask him what he needs from you and that this is a standing offer. Then proceed as normal.
If he wants to talk about it then he will.
Just business as usual until then.
Depends on how he is taking it. One of my marines was diagnosed with it and had to get it removed. When he got back to the barracks, we all had a few beers and played UNO.
I find a combination of brutal shit talk and copious alcohol is very helpful in these situations.
